**Position Information**:
Miller Technology High School is a comprehensive high school located in Sydney South West with an enrolment of approximately 770 students, with 85% of students from Language Backgrounds Other than English (LBOTE) and 9% Aboriginal students. A well-established Intensive English Centre is located onsite provides English instruction and cultural orientation for new arrivals, refugees and international students. A Support Faculty provides high quality educational experiences for students with special learning needs.
The school has a low socio-economic status with a strong focus on quality teaching, literacy, numeracy, engagement and connected learning. Our students have access to a broad curriculum with our Positive Behaviour for Learning core values of Respect, Inspire, Safe and Excel supporting an inclusive learning environment to aspire students to be the best they can possibly be. **Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval and demonstrated ability to teach English 7-10 and HSC English including Extension 1.
- Proven ability to lead the English faculty team in the implementation of the new 7-10 English syllabus, including developing quality teaching and assessment practices to cater to the full range of student abilities in a highly multicultural learning environment.
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to build and engage a collaborative team forming positive relationships with teachers, parents, community and to promote the wellbeing of students.
- Demonstrated capacity to work with a highly experienced executive team, leading and engaging with whole school strategic directions and supporting professional learning to implement improved teaching practices that will drive whole school improvement.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
