You will lead and supervise a range of capital projects, including new installations, cabling works, tray work, fit-outs, and buried services like conduits and pits. You will supervise teams of electricians, trades, and technicians on-site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
In addition, there is an opportunity to train two candidates to undertake underground electrical work, including operation of integrated tool carriers and working from a basket. Your leadership will ensure all personnel adhere to SHEC standards and follow site procedures.
This position is based in Mt Isa, offering FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane and DIDO from Cloncurry or Mt Isa (locals preferred). The roster is 8:6 (Tuesday to Tuesday or Wednesday to Wednesday), with potential 2:1 shifts for project progression. Employment is initially 6 months, likely extending to 12 months, with a start date of 24/03/2026 (earlier start 10/03/2026 possible).
Key Responsibilities
• Manage project controls, schedules, budgets, and deliverables for surface and underground works
• Supervise multi-discipline teams, contractors, and subcontractors
• Oversee installation of cabling, tray work, conduits, pits, plant fit-outs, and instrumentation
• Mentor and train candidates for underground electrical work, integrated tool carrier, and basket operation VOCs
• Endorse project plans, risk assessments, and actively monitor SHEC performance
• Verify work plans, resources, and operational interfaces with stakeholders
• Support procurement of equipment, consumables, and tooling
About you
• Extensive experience in surface mining projects, electrical, instrumentation, and plant works
• Strong supervision, planning, and organisational skills
• Knowledge of equipment, risk management, SAP, and relevant standards
• Demonstrated leadership in SHEC practices and safety culture
• Current QLD electrical license and relevant tickets: Working at Heights, LVR/CPR, EWP, Driver’s License, Forklift (beneficial: CSE, HR license, Doggers/riggers, Franna)
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills
• Flexible, autonomous, and proactive in delivering results
• Must hold current QLD RSHQ medicals and blood lead test
