Full job description
Savins Radiators is looking for an experienced Motor Mechanic to join their team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a variety of vehicles and will ensure that all repairs meet performance and safety standards.
Tasks
1. Identifying issues with vehicles by inspecting and testing various components, using diagnostic equipment, and listening to customer descriptions of symptoms.
2. Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components for inspection and repair.
3. Inspecting and checking parts for wear, damage, or defects.
4. Performing repairs or replacements on damaged or malfunctioning parts such as engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and electrical systems.
5. Performing scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups.
6. Reassembling mechanical components and engine assemblies after repairs.
7. Performing scheduled maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements, and fluid checks to keep vehicles running smoothly and prevent future problems.
8. Consulting service manuals and technical guides for repair procedures and specifications.
9. Adjusting or replacing ignition components, fuel systems, and other parts to optimize engine performance and fuel efficiency.
10. Testing vehicle systems and components to ensure they meet performance standards and making adjustments as necessary.
11. Ensuring compliance with pollution regulations during maintenance and repairs.
12. Documenting all work performed on vehicles, including parts used, labour hours, and diagnostic findings, for billing purposes and future reference.
13. Maintaining a tidy and safe work environment, including cleaning tools and equipment, disposing of waste properly, and following safety protocols.
14. Staying informed about new technologies, tools, and techniques in the automotive industry through training programs, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications and other requirements
* Certificate III or equivalent qualification in a relevant field is required.
* A minimum of 1-2 years of full‑time recent relevant experience working as a motor mechanic is required.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
* Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
* Knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components.
* Excellent attention to detail and precision.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
