Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis, focusing on the design and development of mineral processing plants. This is a great opportunity to work on exciting projects with a forward-thinking company.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop mechanical systems, with a focus on winch products and their integration into mineral processing plants.
* Conduct detailed engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to ensure the efficiency and safety of mechanical designs.
* Oversee the review and validation of mechanical deliverables to meet project specifications and industry standards.
* Manage the coordination of mechanical designs with drafting and project teams to ensure alignment with project goals.
* Perform failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and risk assessments for mechanical components and systems.
* Provide technical support and leadership in the selection of materials and equipment for mechanical packages.
* Ensure mechanical designs adhere to regulatory requirements and engineering best practices.
* Monitor and track project schedules, ensuring mechanical deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
* Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to ensure the proper specification, procurement, and installation of winches and other mechanical components.
* Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing mechanical design processes and project delivery standards.
Requirements
Key Requirements:
* Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, recognised by Engineers Australia.
* 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on minerals processing or heavy industry.
* Strong experience in the design and development of winch systems or similar heavy equipment.
* Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and analysis tools.
* Demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept to delivery, including scheduling, risk management, and budgeting.
* Excellent understanding of relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including design, drafting, and external contractors.
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
