The Opportunity
A highly profitable, Australian FinTech is seeking a Chief Technology & AI Officer to lead its next phase of market disruption. Operating with zero legacy debt, the organization has spent the last seven years investing heavily in a proprietary tech stack that has positioned it as the top player in its sector.
This is not a "maintenance" role for an institutionalized leader. It is a mandate for a technical "player-coach" to act as the primary architect of a cloud-native, digital-first business as it enters the Agentic AI era.
The Mandate
The successful candidate will serve as the CEO's primary technical partner, overseeing a multidisciplinary team of approximately 40 specialists across Software Engineering, Data, and AI/ML.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the AI Transition: The organization is currently in the late stages of exiting its final traditional administration systems to move entirely onto an AI-enabled, proprietary platform.
* Drive Market Leadership: In a landscape of aggressive and often irrational competitors, the CTO will ensure the firm maintains its leadership position through superior foundational infrastructure.
* Pioneer End-to-End Automation: The leader will evaluate and execute the automation of the entire customer journey, from product development through to the end consumer.
* Foster a High-Performing Culture: With a staff turnover of just 4%, the organization prides itself on a flat, "no-silo" structure that prioritizes technical smarts over corporate politics.
The Ideal Profile
We are specifically looking for a leader with "learned experiences"-someone who understands the technical and economic dynamics of high-growth product environments.
The successful candidate will likely possess:
* The Pedigree: A background in market-leading product companies (e.g., Canva, Atlassian, AWS, or similar high-growth environments).
* The Founder Mindset: You may have started your own business, sold a startup, or led a major product from seed to scale. You have the "warts and all" experience of what works and what doesn't.
* Technical DNA: You are likely a former Solutions Architect or Lead Engineer who still understands the interaction between data, processes, and modern technical stacks (AWS, Kubernetes, AI/ML etc).
* Anti-Bureaucracy: You prefer speed-to-decision and lean, agile ways of working over institutional politics.
