The National School of Arts and Sciences is one of two national schools in the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Law and Business. The School is based on two distinct campuses in Fremantle and Sydney. They deliver a practical, ethical and industry‑focused education in various areas including liberal arts, communications, media, counselling, and science.
The Advertising major sits within the Bachelor of Communications and Media in Sydney, as well as the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce degrees, and is paired with disciplines like Marketing and Public Relations. It is a key component in Communications, alongside film, journalism, literature, and theatre studies.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to an evolving Communications and Media program, focusing on strategic communications, social media, and creative content across diverse platforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach Advertising courses with a focus on contemporary developments, incorporating social media and diverse platforms to create engaging learning experiences.
* Design and develop innovative curriculum informed by current industry trends and scholarly research.
* Contribute to curriculum design and development in Advertising and strategic communications.
* Coordinate and manage course delivery, overseeing sessional staff as required, and provide academic mentoring and support to students.
Qualifications and experience
Lecturer (Level B)
* Possession of, or progress toward, a doctoral qualification or relevant postgraduate qualifications in Advertising, Strategic Communications, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent accreditation.
* Professional experience, creative achievement, or technical expertise relevant to the discipline, with commitment to curriculum development and pedagogical innovation.
Senior Lecturer (Level C)
* Possession of a doctoral qualification in Advertising, Strategic Communications, or a closely related discipline.
* Strong record of scholarly and professional achievement.
* Significant experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, or professional contributions related to the discipline, with commitment to curriculum development.
Knowledge, Skills and abilities
* Demonstrated experience teaching advertising / strategic communications in a Higher Education context.
* Evidence of research and / or professional practice in Advertising, Strategic Communications, or a relevant discipline.
* Proven ability to develop and deliver courses in areas such as Advertising Design, Creative Advertising, Communication Strategies, and Integrated Marketing Communications at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, incorporating innovative teaching technologies.
