About the Role
Intertek is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Laboratory Chemists or Laboratory Technicians to provide laboratory testing and ad-hoc offshore laboratory support for upcoming and short-notice offshore campaigns. FIFO to Darwin from major Australian cities.
This is not a permanent rostered position. Engagements will be project-based and as required, depending on operational demand.
Successful candidates will be mobilized offshore on an ad-hoc basis to support laboratory operations during commissioning, production campaigns, maintenance periods, and special projects.
Assignments may range from short-term coverage to multi-week campaigns, depending on project requirements.
Working Arrangements
* Offshore roles supporting facilities operating from Darwin, NT
* FIFO travel and accommodation to and from Darwino from major Australian cities
* Ad-hoc mobilization only – no guaranteed or fixed rotation
* Typical offshore assignments may include:
* Campaign-based swings (e.g. 2-5 days, 1–3 weeks)
* Short-notice coverage
* Day or night shift, depending on operational requirements
* Availability to mobilize at short notice is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
* Participate in daily pre-starts, shift handovers, safety meetings, and production discussions
* Conduct sampling, testing, and analysis safely and accurately in accordance with Intertek laboratory procedures
* Perform environmental and process testing with minimal supervision once deemed competent
* Prepare samples using digestion, dissolution, fusion, extraction, subsampling, and compositing techniques
* Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory analytical equipment within scope of competency
* Complete sample preparation, instrumentation duties, and routine laboratory tasks
* Maintain accurate records, including worksheets, Excel spreadsheets, and LIMS entries
* Prepare analytical reports and submit for quality control review
* Support quality control activities and provide technical support within competency
* Maintain a clean, safe, and contaminant-free laboratory environment
* Demonstrate strong time management and ability to work independently offshore
* Communicate effectively and integrate into rotating offshore teams
Candidate Requirements
* Previous offshore, industrial, or process laboratory experience preferred
* Strong safety awareness and commitment to quality systems
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities offshore
* Flexibility to support offshore work on an ad-hoc basis
* Current offshore medical and safety tickets (or willingness to obtain) will be regarded favourably
