We are seeking a hands-on and proactive Maintenance Officer to join our dedicated team and ensure our facility continues to meet the highest standards of care, comfort, and safety.Our Home: The Bays Aged Care is a welcoming 90 bed community that’s beautifully designed to feel like home. The Bays boasts warm and inviting dining and lounge areas, each with their own servery, gas log fire and terrace or courtyard to enjoy. Located in Hastings, our facility is a short walk to the beautiful foreshore, main shopping centre, library, banks, cafes, and parklands.Full-time hours are available for an initial period of 8–12 weeks, with ongoing casual shifts offered thereafter to support both planned and unplanned leave coverage.Role Summary: As a key member of our Environmental Services Team, the Maintenance Officer plays an important part in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by maintaining the facility’s equipment, infrastructure, and grounds. This role supports efficient daily operations and ensures all maintenance is completed in alignment with regulatory standards and Apollo Care's philosophy of care.Key Responsibilities:Perform minor repair tasks across the facility using general handyman skills.Assess equipment breakdowns and determine the need for contractor intervention.Coordinate deliveries of incoming stock, materials, and equipment.Induct new contractors and ensure compliance with site safety protocols.Relocate plant and equipment throughout the facility as needed.Work collaboratively with senior staff to promptly respond to resident requests.Participate in regular meetings to report on maintenance issues and facility status.Conduct environmental safety audits and respond to identified hazards.Maintain preventative and corrective maintenance schedules and records.Support grounds and garden upkeep and ensure a clean, tidy outdoor space.Assist with room setups and equipment movement to meet resident needs.Ensure waste is handled according to council and regulatory guidelines.What We’re Looking For:At least 2 years’ experience in a maintenance or similar role (aged care experience desirable).NDIS Check – Mandatory.Strong general maintenance and repair skills.Excellent communication and coordination abilities.Confidence working independently and liaising with external contractors.Basic IT skills for managing maintenance logs and reports.A genuine commitment to the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of older people.Relevant trade certifications (desirable).What’s in it for you?Hourly Rate (based on exp) + Penalties + 11% Superannuation + 17.5% Leave LoadingNFP Salary Packaging options of up to $15,900 Tax Free, plus $2,650 Meals & Entertainment CardEnjoy online + in store discounts with Blue Light Card Australia https://www.bluelightcard.com.au/Care Friends: Refer friends, earn points, and turn them into cash.
