The CFO role is central to securing the financial strength, discipline, and foresight that will guide the organisation into its next stage of evolution.This is a rare opportunity for a strategic, values‐driven executive ready to take full ownership and accountability of the organisation's financial direction, risk posture, and corporate governance frameworks.About the Role The Chief Financial Officer is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for leading, managing, and maturing the organisation's financial, governance, and corporate services capability.You will be charged with building a scalable financial foundation that supports growth, operational excellence, and long‐term organisational strength. This is a highly influential, hands‐on executive role for a leader who thrives on shaping strategy, solving complex problems, and embedding systems, processes, and insights that enable confident decision‐making. We are looking for someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and work side‐by‐side with their team to deliver results and real impact.You will report directly to the Executive Director / CEO and work closely with the Board, Executive leaders, and external partners to ensure clarity, transparency, accountability, and sustainability across all financial and compliance functions.WHAT YOU WILL DO Lead the organisation's financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with organisational priorities.Strengthen governance, risk, and compliance frameworks, ensuring the organisation meets obligations across education, health, not‐for‐profit, and regulatory environments.Oversee financial operations, including payroll, procurement, treasury, asset management, audit, and commercial contracts.Provide strategic financial leadership, guiding Executive and Board‐level decision‐making through data, insights, and financial modelling.Support and advise the CEO on organisational performance, risks, opportunities, and long‐term sustainability.Lead and develop a high‐performing finance team, uplifting capability, systems, efficiency, and service quality.Champion financial accountability and discipline across the organisation, embedding robust systems, controls, and reporting processes.Drive commercial maturity, supporting future growth, investment, new service development, and long‐term financial resilience.Partner across the organisation, building strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders, internal teams, external auditors, regulators, and funding bodies.WHAT YOU BRING Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.Professional membership such as CA or CPA.Proven executive‐level experience in financial leadership, governance, risk, and commercial management.Deep understanding of financial compliance frameworks across not‐for‐profit, education, or allied health sectors (desirable but not essential).Demonstrated success leading financial strategy and operations in complex or multi‐service organisations.Exceptional communication, analytical, and relationship‐building skills.Experience introducing modern systems, reporting frameworks, and financial controls.High levels of integrity, accountability, and judgement, with a commitment to purpose‐driven leadership.Current Blue Card (or ability to obtain before commencement).BENEFITS In return, we offer:A pivotal executive leadership role with organisation‐wide impact.The opportunity to shape financial strategy and governance during a period of significant growth.A collaborative, high trust, values‐driven environment with strong Executive and Board support.Onsite car parking at our Toowong office.Competitive remuneration (and generous salary packaging options) aligned to experience and executive responsibility.The chance to help create extraordinary outcomes for children and young people with Language Disorder.WHY JOIN LANGUAGE DISORDER AUSTRALIA?
