About the role

This is a diverse role combining HSE support, HR duties, and general administration. You will be exposed to site operations, project teams, and corporate functions, making it an ideal opportunity for someone keen to develop a long-term career in HSE and HR within civil construction.

Key responsibilities

HSE Duties

* Assist with the implementation and maintenance of Civlec's HSEQ plans, policies, procedures, and strategies
* Support project teams with onboarding of new employees and subcontractors in HammerTech, including review of SWMS, inductions, licences, and competencies
* Review site prestarts and ensure compliance with HSE requirements
* Raise staff awareness of safety accountabilities and responsibilities
* Support compliance with Queensland WHS legislation, harmonised legislation, Australian Standards, and Industry Codes of Practice
* Assist in arranging and tracking maintenance, servicing, and calibration of plant, equipment, and safety systems
* Review and arrange internal and external training for employees
* Support the HSEQ/HR Manager in ongoing HSEQ duties and contribute to achieving safety objectives and targets

HR Duties

* Assist with recruitment processes including posting positions on SEEK and other platforms, shortlisting candidates, and scheduling interviews
* Support onboarding of new employees, including inductions, system access, and documentation
* Maintain HR records and employee files in line with compliance requirements
* Support staff with HR enquiries and processes
* Assist in staff communications and engagement initiatives

Administration Duties

* Answer incoming phone calls and manage general enquiries
* Provide reception support and front of house duties
* Coordinate accommodation bookings for project staff
* Order office and site supplies as required
* Provide general administrative support to HSEQ/HR Manager

About you

* Experience in HSE, HR, or administration within civil construction or a related industry (desirable)
* Strong interest in building a career in HSE and HR
* Working knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation (desirable)
* Experience with HammerTech or similar safety management platforms is highly regarded
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload and competing priorities
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn
* Able to work across site and office environments
