This position works on a rotating roster over the followingshift times:
- 9am to 5pm
- 10am to 6pm
- 12pm to 8pm

About the Role:
The Youth Development Coach (YDC) is responsible for deliveringthe Education First Youth Foyer (EFYF) model to Students. The rolerequires the YDC to work within the Advantage Thinking frameworkand to coach Students to achieve their goals in education andemployment. The YDC will have at least fortnightly contact with theStudent to ensure their Learning Plan is progressing to achieveadulthood independence. The role is responsible for delivering theEFYF model within an integrated and collaborative framework withrelevant stakeholders and services in the community. The role mayrequire the YDC to complete shift work as required.
What you will be doing in this role:
- Ensure the effective implementation of the EEYF model usingAdvantage Thinking approach;
- Oversee the assessment and intake of new students;
- Support students to develop individualised LearningPlans;
- Meet with students at least fortnightly;
- Plan and deliver activities;
- Use brokerage to assist students achieve the goals withintheir Learning Plan;
- Connect students to the right opportunities, resourcespeople and places to develop their talents and achieve theirgoals;
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders;
- Assist in collaboration with TasTAFE;
- Maintain accurate case notes, complete administrative tasksand collect data;
- Meet performance indicators;
- Work within a community of practice and within the latestmodels of service delivery;
- Assist the Coordinator – Youth 2 Independence &Youthcare and other senior employees;
- Actively contribute to a positive team culture;

You must have:
- An understanding of the Housing Connect system includingyoung people's pathways;
- Knowledge of educational opportunities including vocationalpathways;
- Knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues relating tohomelessness such as: poverty, unemployment, health, familyviolence, substance use and other social factors which impacton vulnerable people or at risk people.
- Understanding of Tasmania's current housing marketand the difficulties facing low income people trying to securehousing;
- Concepts of social justice, social inclusion andempowerment and their application to practice;
- Demonstrated skills in assisting people who areexperiencing disadvantage including reflective practice;
- High level interpersonal skills including the ability toeffectively engage with young people and a range ofstakeholders including real estate agents and businessowners;
- Client feedback and participation strategies, theirapplication to practice and quality improvement process;
- Comprehensive knowledge of the community services sectorand resources available for young people;
- High level initiative, problem solving and resilienceskills including the ability to maintain a positive outlook,see the 'bigger picture', identify opportunitiesand implement solutions;
- Well-developed writing skills including the ability tomaintain accurate, professional case-notes, write reports,collect data, prepare correspondence and provide requiredinformation within program guidelines;
- Excellent time management and organisational skills withthe ability to manage own work flows in conjunction with seniorstaff;
- Computer skills, in particular the ability to operate workprocessing and database management;
- A Social Work degree or other tertiary qualification deemedequivalent, and/or clearly demonstrated experience.

The successful applicant will be required to:
- provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable PeopleRegistration (employment/volunteer category) including NDISWorker Screening Check if you are applying for the 1st time orhave renewed your registration since 1st February 2021;
- present an Schedule 1 or Probity type NationallyCoordinated Criminal History Check (National Police Check)which is no older than 12 months;
- provide an International Police Check if you have residedfor 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of16;
- provide a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical:
- provide a current provisional or full Australian DriverLicence.
On commencement the successful applicant will be required toundertake our structured Safeguarding Children Trainingprogram.
