Responsibilities
* Provide direct person-centred support and care to young people who reside in Kirinari OOHC homes, ensuring their individual needs are met.
* Provide crisis intervention and ongoing support; maintain a safe and welcoming home environment.
* Empower young people to develop skills to live a good life within their local community.
* Support young people to develop independent living skills and achieve their goals.
* Support engagement in local communities (e.g., school, community groups).
* Assist with daily care and household duties; transport to appointments.
* Support connection to family and culture; work with other professionals to deliver multi-disciplinary care.
Qualifications and Criteria
* Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people, and people with a disability.
* Understanding of strength-based trauma-informed practice (or willingness to learn).
* Qualifications in Community Services, Residential Care, Welfare or related areas (Cert IV) (highly regarded).
* Previous experience in residential therapeutic care and complex trauma (highly regarded).
* Willingness to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings and sleepovers.
* Ability to obtain the NDIS Workers Screening Check prior to commencement.
* Ability to obtain a paid NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
* Willingness to be registered on the NSW Residential Care Workers Register.
* Complete a National Criminal History Check (paid by Kirinari).
* Ability to be physically active and engage with young people in games/sport.
* Ability to use computers and learn a variety of software/programs.
* Hold a current Australian Driver's License.

About the Role
Kirinari is seeking Youth Support Workers to provide individualised support for children and young people residing in Kirinari OOHC homes. Our young people have experienced childhood trauma, abuse or neglect and may have mental health, physical or psychosocial disabilities. We're looking for resilient and committed team members who can support young people to build skills and strengths within a therapeutic model of care to provide safety and empowerment.
A typical day may include supporting independent living skills, helping young people achieve goals, engaging in local communities, daily care and household duties, transporting to appointments, supporting connections to family and culture, and collaborating with other professionals to deliver multi-disciplinary care.
