* Full Time, Fixed Term until 14th July 2027

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:
Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) Flexible Schools Ltd educates over 2,200 young people in 22 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 10 other schools across Australia) and serves young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses. They enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, in which the principles of operation (Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal) are embedded.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The role of the Youth Worker is to support, design and develop engagement, wellbeing and social inclusion responses and program activities for the school that directly enhance the engagement of the young people that attend the school. All program activities are to complement the educational programs and support the engagement of young peoples learning at the school. The position involves working directly with children and young people on a daily basis and therefore must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children. All young people are owed a duty of care while in the supervision of the position.

ABOUT YOU

ESSENTIAL:

* Tertiary qualifications at Certificate level or equivalent qualifications relevant for a Youth Support Worker or such knowledge and experience to successfully carry out the duties of this position.
* An understanding of and commitment to principles of social justice.
* Sound level of verbal and written communication skills, including participating in meeting processes, report writing, case notes and negotiation skills.
* Understanding of current youth work practice, trends and issues in service provision to marginalised young people particularly within the alternate education sector.
* Skills in computing (especially word processing, Internet) and skills, or the ability to develop skills in database use.
* Proven ability to work under limited supervision and in an integrated manner as a member of a multi- disciplinary team.
* Current and valid Blue Card or the ability to obtain.
* Current and valid Queensland Driver's License.
* Current Cert IV TAE or willing to obtain.
* Experience in Music, Work Placement of Sport would be advantageous
