Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives.

Be Part of a Once-in-a-Lifetime Transformation in Paediatric Pharmacy

Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is undergoing a once-in-a-lifetime redevelopment with new facilities at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick and The Children's Hospital, Westmead. We are looking for a strategic thinker to take up the newly created role of SCHN Chief Technician to join us as we move into our brand-new, purpose-built pharmacies in November 2025 at Randwick and March 2026 at Westmead.

Our pharmacy departments deliver inpatient clinical, operational, HITH, ambulatory and outpatient pharmacy services to the hospital. We care for patients as part of the multi-disciplinary team under medical teams such as oncology/haematology, neurology, renal, gastroenterology, intensive care, mental health, emergency and surgical. We support pharmacy technicians through Cert III and IV training. Quality improvement and research are embedded in practice, and we train our staff to be skilled educators.

Both new Pharmacy departments will feature automation in patient care areas to streamline inventory management and a central pharmacy equipped with a robotic dispensing system. The pharmacy departments have aseptic, cytotoxic, and gene therapy suites, along with specialised non-sterile compounding facilities to support tailored formulations.

SCH Pharmacy are recruiting a Full-time Chief Technician to join our expanding team

This position is Network based, with home site preference for SCH or CHW.

The Chief Technician provides strategic leadership and mentorship to the technical workforce (under the direction of the Director(s) of pharmacy), providing professional development and supporting a high-performing culture with Pharmacy technicians and assistants working at the top of scope of practice. The role carries responsibility for the effective management and workforce development of Pharmacy technicians and assistants under the direction of the Network Director, Director, Deputy Director of Pharmacy and Lead Pharmacist - Workforce Development.

The role also supports central and decentralised service operational models within the Pharmacy. This position provides oversight to decentralised services in automated inventory management and with technicians and assistants supporting clinical operations including medication management and patient flow.
