King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. After a significant expansion, KOTH now features a 4.7 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant, providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia. Reporting to the Open Pit Mining Superintendent, the Open Pit Medium to Long Term Planning Engineer is responsible for the effective operation of the King of the Hills Gold Mine through the design and delivery of open pit production plans, interim designs, reporting and reconciliation of production targets. The position will be offered on an 8:6 roster FIFO from Perth or surrounding areas. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the culture of safety and performance of Vault Minerals are adhered to at all times. Demonstrated ability to operate safely and maintain and promote safe production. Delivery of practical 13 weeks plans in line with budget and forecast and all on site principal engineering Delivery of mining forecasts, budgets and plans in line with company guidance, assumptions and good mining practices Develop, maintain and improve site data tracking and reconciliation practices and systems. Undertake engineering projects and interim work for operations as required. Provide engineering support to Geologists, Mine Surveyors, short-term planners, drill and blast engineers, and mine services contractors as required. Assist the mine manager in developing and updating streamlined reports and reporting systems development. Complete conceptual scenarios for short to medium term as required Software and planning gap analysis and data analysis as required Monitor the engineering systems and business processes, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods. Assist the mining superintendent and mine manager with the implementation of site initiatives, continuous improvement and change management. Consistently demonstrate and reflect behaviours, actions and attitudes in line with the company’s Vision, Values and Code of Ethics and actively promote the Company’s policies, systems and procedures relating to HR, OH&S and Environment within your area of responsibility. About You Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related field, with at least 2 years experience Extensive experience in designing and delivering open pit production plans, developing mine tracking, as well as interim designs, reporting, and reconciling production targets in an open pit gold environment. Proven results in optimising mine plans for increased efficiency, increase production, and cost reduction. Working knowledge and understanding of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations Previous experience in developing operational mine designs and schedules for contract mining environments. Possess strong technical problem-solving skills that enable you to create innovative and sustainable solutions.
