Temporary AO5 Senior Ranger (Assets) - Deliver asset management projects on Rangelands
Live and work on one of Queensland's newest western parks
The Senior Ranger (Assets) will be tasked with managing several properties recently acquired by Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI). The Rangelands properties are located on the eastern edge of the famous channel country in western Queensland. As a ranger you will be on the front line, managing the built assets and infrastructure, plus natural values, to protect the unique landscapes and ecosystems from threatening processes.
Based in Longreach, the Senior Ranger (Assets) will ensure that activities are undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation and departmental policies and procedures within the recently acquired Rangelands properties. The position is required to work collaboratively with park neighbours, First Nations partners, researchers, contractors and key stakeholders.
The position holder will provide support and direction across a large geographical area ensuring optimum use of resources and overseas administrative processes. Human resources management experience, excellent communication and administration skills are essential for this position.
Properties within the management unit are remote and may become isolated from time to time. Confidence and practical skills are required to work and live in regional and isolated settings.
There are no tertiary qualifications required, however a White Card for Construction is necessary to undertake this position and construction-related experience is highly desirable. Experience in procurement and the management of small to medium scale construction projects is also highly desirable.
A reasonable degree of physical fitness is required for this role.
