The Opportunity:
KBR is continuing to expand and strengthen our Land Systems Division in Melbourne, and we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong Defence background to join our team. This is a full‑time, permanent role supporting the sustainment of one of Australia's most significant land systems programs within our Land Engineering Agency.
Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, you will work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a range of engineering activities, including configuration management, certification management, logistics engineering, and systems safety engineering.
Responsibilities:
Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria under supervision, using sound judgement in executing engineering activities.
Assist in the design and delivery of larger and more complex engineering assignments involving conventional plans, investigations, and surveys.
Develop design solutions and requirements within the context of engineering change and configuration management.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to formulate practical engineering solutions.
Verify new Requests for Problem Resolution (RPR) against the approved Requirements Baseline, Certification Basis, and Safety Case Report.
Manage assigned Requests for Variation (RFV) through to Return to Standard (RTS), permanent implementation, or cancellation.
Undertake engineering investigations.
Use engineering applications, tools, and systems—including configuration, modelling, design, and data analysis tools—to support project delivery.
Work in accordance with Australian Government, Defence, and KBR frameworks, and complete all mandatory training as required.
Adhere to the Engineering Management Plan and maintain a safe working environment.
Perform additional engineering duties as directed by the Senior Engineering Discipline Lead.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
Eligibility to hold and maintain an AGSVA NV1 (or higher) security clearance.
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within Defence, Defence industry primes, or similarly complex engineering environments.
Knowledge and experience in configuration management, certification management, logistics engineering, and systems safety engineering.
A professional, discreet, and collaborative approach, with a focus on achieving results within a team environment.
