The Junior Accountant Role
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our team and support the rapidly growing Wellness division of Gurner.
This newly created role involves preparing Accounts Payable payment runs, bank reconciliations, posting journals, managing the general ledger, raising construction claims, and reconciling budgets.
Main Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Divisional CFO to develop and present financial reports, providing insights on performance.
* Analyse and report on variances in budgets and forecasts, offering recommendations for improvements.
* Ensure financial reporting requirements for capital investors and financiers are met in a timely and accurate manner.
* Implement financial accounting policies and procedures for a growing business with retail and e-commerce operations.
* Partner with the Gurner Group finance team to enhance the efficiency of the Netsuite ERP financial system.
Capital and Commercial Management
* Manage reporting requirements for financiers, ensuring accurate financial forecasts that identify future capital needs and associated risks.
* Contribute to executive management reports with variance analyses against budget and forecasts.
* Identify and assess potential risks, developing strategies to mitigate impact and safeguard business operations.
Skills and Competencies
* Individual working towards accounting qualifications (CA or CPA) with an understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
* Passion for process improvement in managing data and information, with experience preferred in systems and modelling.
* Exposure to financial ERP systems, ideally NetSuite, and in understanding how to leverage improved performance from financial systems.
* Results driven with exemplary planning and organisation skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to meet deadlines but manage priorities and be flexible with time management.
