The Cairnmillar Institute is seeking to appoint a self-motivated and enthusiastic Library Officer who will provide exceptional library services, assist customers, and contribute to engaging library programs and Cairnmillar events more broadly. You will be supported by, and be part of, a small team who provide exceptional customer service.

The Cairnmillar Institute is a vibrant and multifaceted not-for-profit Institute of Higher Education and mental health clinical services provider. For more than 60 years, Cairnmillar has provided an excellent range of wellbeing and clinical services, postgraduate programs in psychology, counselling and psychotherapy, as well as short courses and professional development. Cairnmillar is now one of the largest trainers of postgraduate psychologists in Australia and seeks to offer students the next generation in library services. About the role - key responsibilities:
•Assist customers with enquiries, reference questions, and digital support and refer as required to Librarians
•Support general library operations, including library membership, circulation of resources, reservations, end processing of resources, and other duties as directed
•Undertake inter library loans
•Assist with collection maintenance, including shelving, shelf checking, and stocktaking
•Follow opening and closing procedures
•Provide resources to students with accessibility requirements
•Provide information on Library services, responding to in-person, telephone or email customer queries, and escalate as required
•Being an enthusiastic team member with strong interpersonal skills and using organisational and time management skills.

To be successful, you must have:
•A degree or working towards a degree in Library and Information Science which would allow eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information (ALIA). Alternatively, completion of Diploma in Library and Information Studies or equivalent, with eligibility for Library Technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) may be considered.
•Strong digital literacy skills and the ability to problem solve to meet customer needs
•Experience in working in a library, preferably within a special or academic setting
•Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with individual, academic staff and students, and groups of students
•Strong customer service skills
•Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
Essential requirements:
•National Police Clearance (less than three months old).
•Working With Children Check.
