About the role
Within the National School of Philosophy the Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (History of Ethics) provides high quality teaching, undertakes quality research and publication in their area of philosophical expertise, and undertakes external engagement and internal service.
The area of research specialisation is History of Ethics.
Candidate applications are welcome from specialists in any era of the history of philosophical ethics.
Key responsibilities
Contribute to curriculum development of undergraduate and / or post-graduate units in the School of Philosophy in a variety of modes ranging from face-to-face classes to synchronous and asynchronous online delivery.
Teach across aspects of philosophical ethics with a historical perspective, and related areas of philosophical ethics and the history of philosophy, at least to an undergraduate level.
Contribute to the supervision of Honours and Higher Degree (including PhD) students in areas of philosophical expertise.
Conduct high-quality research and publish in the history of ethics with highly-ranked international journals and book publishers, and seek external funding for research projects.
Undertake coursework administration and other School-based service efficiently and collegially.
Engage in community and stakeholder engagement initiatives, as appropriate.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the University's Catholic Identity and Mission and contribute to the integration of principles of social justice, the pursuit of truth and care for the common good in all areas of academic activity relevant to the Teaching and Research Academic Pathway.

Salary and remuneration
Total remuneration valued to $142,635 – $168,287 (pro rata) pa, including salary component $120,529 – $142,305 (pro rata) pa (Lecturer – Academic Level B) or $151,018 – $164,087 (Senior Lecturer – Academic Level C).
17% employer superannuation contributions and annual leave loading of an equivalent to 17.5% of four weeks' salary pro rata.
