Role Summary

As Deputy Head of Flying Operations (Part 135), you will play a pivotal role in strengthening Western Australia's regional air connectivity. Working closely with the HOFO, you will lead pilots, oversee daily operations, uphold safety and regulatory standards, and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

This role offers a clear pathway to the Head of Flying Operations position. We welcome applicants with leadership potential—even if you don't meet every listed requirement.

Key Responsibilities
* Leadership & Crew Management — Guide and motivate pilots and senior base pilots, support scheduling and uphold safety standards.
* Training & Standards — Maintain high training standards, recurrent training and proficiency checks.
* Policies & Procedures — Maintain and develop operational manuals and ensure regulatory alignment.
* Regulatory Compliance & Safety — Monitor CASR compliance, support SMS implementation and liaise with CASA.
* Operational Oversight — Oversee scheduling, crewing, route planning and irregular operations.
* Culture & Continuous Improvement — Foster a strong safety culture and support workforce engagement.
Ideal Candidate Qualities
* Problem‐solving & Decision‐making — Strong judgement under pressure; experience with risk assessments and investigations.
* Regulatory Expertise — Deep understanding of CASR Parts 119 and 135, plus exposure to IOGP 691, BARS and IOSA.
* Aircraft Experience — Turbine experience with King Air, PC‐12 or Caravan; remote single‐pilot operations experience.
* Leadership & Communication — Ability to motivate crews and engage stakeholders.
* Organisation & Detail — Strong administrative discipline and documentation accuracy.
* Cultural Fit — A role model for safety, professionalism and teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications
* Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane) + Class 1 medical
* 2,500+ hours total time with significant turbine experience
* 6+ months management experience in air transport operations
* Ability to obtain/maintain ASIC
Desirable Qualifications
* PIC experience on King Air, PC‐12 or Caravan
* Previous CASA approval in a key personnel role
* Training & Checking or instructing experience
* Tertiary qualifications in aviation or management
