Your new role
As a Case Officer, you will be responsible for assessing requests from individuals seeking discretionary financial assistance. This is a role where empathy meets analysis, and where your recommendations can have a real impact.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assess act of grace and waiver of debt requests of varying complexity and sensitivity.
* Review personal and sometimes distressing information with professionalism and discretion.
* Research and interpret legislation and policy to form well-reasoned recommendations.
* Draft clear, persuasive recommendations for decision-makers.
* Manage a diverse caseload and escalate risks when required.
* Engage with applicants and stakeholders to clarify information and implement decisions.
* Maintain accurate records in eClaims, our electronic case management system.
What you'll need to succeed
Our ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication tailored to diverse audiences.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Emotional intelligence and resilience when dealing with sensitive material.
- Experience interpreting legislation and applying legal principles, with a legal background will be highly regarded.
- Case management experience (desirable).
- For APS6 roles: ability to manage moderately complex work, provide evidence-based advice, and influence outcomes.
