Part-time (0.8 FTE), 10-month fixed-term Join the Daffodil Centre as a Research Fellow and advance high-impact research within a nationally recognised centre Base Salary $127,436 (pro-rata) 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Research Fellow at the Daffodil Centre applies and further develops their expertise in implementation research methodology, design, and delivery in the cancer context to contribute to the University of Sydney’s standing as a national leader in the discipline. Working either independently or as part of a collaborative research team, this role focuses on delivering high-quality, impactful research that advances knowledge and supports improved outcomes across policy, practice, industry, and the community, with a particular focus on delivering equitable cancer outcomes for priority populations. Working under broad direction, you will operate as a subject matter expert, translating strategic research objectives into practical and achievable outcomes. You will have the opportunity to provide informed advice, resolve complex research matters, and contribute to the delivery of research goals, while actively supporting the University and Faculty’s broader strategic agenda. Your key responsibilities will be to: Conduct high-quality, original research independently and collaboratively, leading to publications, conference presentations, and the development of a strong research profile. Publish research outcomes in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and conference or seminar papers, maintaining excellence and impact in scholarly outputs. Develop and sustain research collaborations and translational research activities that support knowledge transfer, policy or practice improvement, and industry or community impact. Consider how health equity can be promoted in research activities and design research that promotes equitable outcomes for diverse groups affected by cancer Contribute to the preparation of competitive research grant and funding applications to support impactful research programs. Provide informal mentoring to early-career academics and supervise postgraduate research students or projects where appropriate. Contribute to administrative activities, governance, and a positive, inclusive workplace culture that supports the University and Faculty strategic objectives. About you PhD in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, behavioural/implementation science). Demonstrated experience conducting original research and scholarly activity, with a developing research profile in a relevant discipline or area of expertise. Proven ability to communicate effectively, including delivering clear and engaging presentations to academic, industry, and professional audiences. Experience building and maintaining a developing network of academic, industry, community, and professional partners and stakeholders, including people with lived experience of cancer from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated capability in supervising and mentoring students or colleagues, supporting capability development and research outcomes. Strong planning, organisational, computer literacy, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
