Senior Family Lawyer - 5+ Years Post Admission
We are seeking an experienced Family Lawyer (5+ years PAE) to lead our Family Law Department. This is a senior position offering autonomy, leadership, and the opportunity to shape the future of our family law practice.
You will manage a diverse caseload, oversee junior lawyers and support staff, and drive strategic growth within the department. Regular appearances in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia will be part of your role, along with providing expert advice on complex family law matters.
What you'll be doing
- Leading and managing the Family Law Department, including mentoring and supervising junior lawyers and support staff.
- Providing strategic and solution‑focused legal advice to clients on divorce, separation, property settlements, child custody, and other family law matters.
- Preparing and reviewing legal documentation such as parenting plans, consent orders, and financial agreements.
- Representing clients in court proceedings, including mediations, hearings, and trials.
- Regularly briefing and collaborating with counsel.
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships, providing an exceptional level of service.
- Collaborating with the wider legal team to ensure the effective and effective delivery of client outcomes.
- Staying up‑to‑date with changes in family law legislation.
What we're looking for
- A minimum of 5 years' post‑admission experience in family law.
- A strong understanding of the legal principles and processes involved in family law matters.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and client service skills, with the ability to provide empathetic and practical advice.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills, with experience representing clients in court.
- A collaborative mindset and the eagerness to work effectively as part of a team.
- Admitted to practice as a solicitor in Victoria and holding a current practising certificate.
