Statutory Planning Officer $39-$42 p/h + super | 3‑month term Based in Officer | Full-time hours About the Opportunity We’re seeking a motivated Statutory Planning Officer to join a high‑performing planning team on a 3‑month term. In this role, you will support the efficient processing of planning permit applications and contribute to delivering strong planning outcomes across the municipality.
You’ll work across both Statutory Planning and Growth Area Planning teams, providing advice, assessing applications and supporting day‑to‑day operations.
What You’ll Do
* Process minor amendments, VicSmart applications, plan approvals and permit extensions
* Provide accurate planning advice via phone, email and front‑counter enquiries
* Prepare written responses to planning-related queries
* Support managers with briefings, meeting coordination and other planning-related tasks
* Contribute to initiatives that improve planning performance and service delivery
* Assist Council teams with general planning advice
* Manage administrative tasks, including record keeping and file maintenance
What You’ll Bring
* Understanding of statutory planning processes and planning legislation
* Ability to research, analyse and prepare clear, concise planning reports
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
* Ability to resolve issues, gain cooperation and work effectively as part of a team
* Excellent time management, able to work across competing priorities
* Competence with Microsoft Office and general administrative systems
* A current driver’s licence
Highly regarded:
* Experience working in statutory planning or a related local government environment
