About the Role
As a Software Developer, you will play a key role as part of our existing Digital Team on a transformational project for Life Without Barriers.
You will help build the software systems that power a new, mobile first frontline application, aimed at reducing administrative burden, delivering timely insights and enabling frontline staff to spend more time supporting the people we serve across Child Youth & Family, Disability & Mental Health and Aged Care services.
You will collaborate with AI Engineers, Solution Architects, UX Designers and business stakeholders to ensure the software and application components are robust, well integrated and aligned to our organisational goals.
These are 12-month full-time maximum term contract roles.
As the organisation explores scaling AI capability, if the role demonstrates transparent value to the business, additional funding may be sought to continue building this capability within the organisation.
Location is flexible.
Key Responsibilities
- Share technical responsibility for all stages of the software development lifecycle in collaboration with senior developers and solution architects.
- Develop applications aligned with modern best practices, agile methodology and enterprise architecture standards.
- Engage with product managers, designers, QA, business analysts and stakeholders to deliver high quality product features that are both fit for purpose and fit for use.
- Work daily in pair and mob programming sessions when required, whilst actively collaborating and contributing ideas.
- Participate in peer code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency.
- Contribute to design discussions and propose scalable solutions.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests and support automated deployment processes.
- Assist with coordinated production releases and adhere to change management policies.
- Implement proactive monitoring, logging and alerting to ensure stability and scalability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for internal knowledge sharing and system support.
- Support integration of AI technologies and ensure software components align with AI platform capabilities.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Solid experience with agile development.
- Work effectively in a remote first team using remote collaboration tools e.g. Teams, Slack, Atlassian Suite, Miro etc)
- Experience working in a continuous delivery environment using CI/CD pipelines and feature flags.
- Practical experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS and serverless services including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, etc.-
- Strong TypeScript, JavaScript and React skills
- Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g. vitest, jest, cypress, playwright)
- Understanding of DevOps practices and culture and infrastructure-as-code (e.g. AWS CDK, CloudFormation).
- Experience with source control systems (Git preferred) in a collaborative, multi-developer environment.
- Awareness of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA) and secure coding practices.
- Familiarity with data privacy principles and legislation relevant to health and social care contexts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Team player with a collaborative mindset.
The successful candidate will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check.
