We are seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This role involves carrying out diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on diesel vehicles and equipment to ensure safety, performance, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fuel system faults in diesel engines, drivetrains, and associated components
* Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on diesel vehicles, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, coolant and fuel system servicing, and engine tuning to ensure efficient operation and compliance with emissions requirements
* Dismantle, remove, inspect, and reassemble diesel engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems, braking systems, and other vehicle components
* Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective diesel engine parts and related components
* Test, calibrate, and adjust diesel engine components and mechanical systems following repairs to confirm correct operation and performance
* Use computerised diagnostic equipment and scan tools to test and assess diesel engine systems and components
* Refer to service manuals, technical bulletins, and diagnostic data to ensure accurate and compliant repairs
* Inspect diesel vehicles to issue roadworthy certificates or provide advice on repairs required to achieve roadworthiness (where authorised)
* Attend breakdown call-outs as required to assess and repair disabled diesel vehicles on-site
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
Qualifications & Requirements
* Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic (or equivalent)
* Demonstrated experience servicing and repairing diesel engines, vehicles, or equipment
* Strong diagnostic ability across mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems
* Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, scan equipment, and workshop machinery
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation
* High attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Valid driver's licence (heavy vehicle licence preferred)
Desirable (but not essential)
* Experience with heavy vehicles, fleet maintenance, plant, or mobile equipment
* Roadworthy inspection accreditation
* Manufacturer training or additional certifications
* Welding or fabrication skills

Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
