The Healthy Ageing Program is a community wellness initiative of the Prince Of Wales Community Health Services offering affordable evidence based exercise and healthy lifestyle programs by qualified exercise / fitness instructors. The Healthy Ageing Program Exercise / Fitness Instructor is responsible for delivering land (AIM) and water (WAVES) based exercise classes to seniors and people with chronic disease living in the POWH catchment area.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.
1. Certificate IV qualifications within an exercise / fitness discipline or willingness and commitment to obtain, or extensive relevant experience.
2. Demonstrated experience in exercise prescription and delivery for groups in a health setting or equivalent.
3. Demonstrated understanding of and interest in and commitment to the promotion of health of older men and women, people with chronic disease and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
4. Demonstrated high level communication skills to deliver exercise classes and engage with all stakeholders
5. Sound administrative, organisational skills and computer literacy
6. Current drivers licence with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
