Balcatta Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
We are seeking applicants who are passionate, innovative, and committed professionals who can work as part of a team to provide leadership in the school and community. Suitable applicants will ideally model innovative, future-focused thinking and be committed to making a difference in the lives of young people.
Suitable applicants will work collaboratively within the school to provide an inclusive educational environment that provides additional support for individual students and their learning needs. Developing strategies to differentiate curriculum to address the learning needs of all students is a key aspect of this role. A high level of interpersonal skills and drive, with the ability to establish and maintain networks, both internally and externally, will be highly regarded. On a day-to-day basis, this position requires significant expertise in the management of individual, group, and school behaviours, as well as attendance, and social-emotional and academic wellbeing. Suitable applicants would ideally have the ability to foster positive relationships with all stakeholders and to provide timely and appropriate support to students, staff, and families, using a case management model.
A large portion of this role will require exceptional organisational skills, including the ability to manage time effectively, prioritise, keep accurate records and the ability to analyse a wide range of data to inform future practice.
Suitable applicants will ideally have a strong focus on ensuring a safe and appropriate learning environment and will be experienced in supporting education assistants to deliver evidence-based programs to enhance student outcomes. Ideally, they will be flexible, adaptive teachers and have specialist knowledge and skills related to students with disability, including Intellectual Disability (ID), multiple physical disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The successful applicants should be able to manage class teams and liaise with parents and therapists to meet the educational and care needs of the students. Ideally, suitable applicants will have experience using a range of assessment and reporting methods to monitor student achievement in relation to learning outcomes. We are seeking individuals who possess the ability to plan purposeful, relevant, and authentic learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs. The ability to incorporate accessibility technology and information and communication technology (ICT) into learning programs will be highly regarded.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
7. Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
8. Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
9. Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
10. Meet the Department of Education requirements;
11. Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
12. Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
13. Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
14. Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
