Job Description
The primary focus of the Principal Advanced Support Engineer is to be a customer-facing technical advocate working with the customer's IT staff.
The role involves providing proactive support for Oracle products, ensuring customers achieve their ROI and maintaining the highest level of satisfaction.
The engineer must be highly skilled at troubleshooting complex and often previously unknown critical customer issues, building strong relationships with technical resources and management, and exercising a high level of autonomy while reporting status and technical matters to management on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
Provide incident resolution, problem identification and resolution activities.
Offer guidance on proactive problem prevention.
Advise on best-practice design, installation, and configuration of database platforms.
Conduct knowledge transfer regarding engagement with Oracle Support processes and procedures.
Mentor and provide knowledge transfer to customer staff.
Provide software lifecycle guidance (patching, upgrades, migration planning and execution).
Skills and Competencies
Database products: backup & recovery, performance tuning, security, RAC, disaster recovery, Golden Gate.
Architecture skills in high availability, maximum availability, engineered systems.
Understanding of ITIL processes.
Technical assistance to Oracle's Project Managers in developing implementation and deployment strategies.
Assistance with management and resolution of technical issues from solution implementations.
Strong verbal and written communication, high energy, business acumen, and process orientation.
Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
AGSVA security clearance to NV level is required.
