Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge is a well-established, award-winning company providing comfortable eco-accommodation within the Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungle). The lodge features 27 cabins and caters to groups and independent travellers. In addition, the Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge partners with Bungle Bungle Guided Tours and East Kimberley Tours to provide guided tours through the National Park.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and professional Head Chef, with an adventurous spirit to assist for the 2026 season. Our style is predominately buffet, fresh homestead style meals. This is a wide and varied role, requiring you to be hands-on in every aspect of the kitchen.

Reporting to the Lodge & Tours Manager, your role will include working a rotating roster comprising mornings, with breakfast from 6am, and dinner from 6:30pm. Your team will be providing daily packed lunches for walking tours, as well as staff meals. Buffet-style lunches for in-house tour groups will be required throughout the week. Covers can be up to 70 people at any one time.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Preparing enticing homestead style meals, picnic lunches, and morning/afternoon tea, that incorporate local, fresh, seasonal and native Australian produce, which caters to a range of dietary requirements and preferences
* Work to a range of guest and tour itineraries to ensure mealtimes are prepared and delivered when required
* Order kitchen stock and supplies, managing costs against budgets, remote location inventory control and logistics, working around flights and road transfers in and out of Kununurra
* Review booking forms and guest information well in advance to identify and cater to any dietary requirements or special requests.
* Monitor costs against budgets and help identify areas for improvement.
* Act as a first point of guest contact at times and provide friendly attentive service.
* Manage stock delivery, unpacking and sorting freight, ensuring food safety at all times
* Ensure the kitchen, restaurant and surrounding areas are cleaned and maintained to an excellent standard and is in compliance with local council food hygiene standards
* Lead and motivate the kitchen team, ensuring quality, consistency, compliance, and team cohesion
* Other duties as requested by management in keeping with the position of Head Chef.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and aptitude profile:

* Commercial cookery trade qualifications, and/or experience in a similar role
* A genuine flair for creating beautiful meals, incorporating native ingredients
* Safety first mindset with a strong working knowledge of the Food Safety Act, and awareness of Safety Management Systems
* Experience with menu preparation and cost analysis
* Experience in mentoring and leading a team
* Be confident in the use of the Microsoft Suite
* Flexible and adaptable to change to respond to operational challenges that may present in remote environments.
* Hold a current "C" Class Driver's Licence
* International and Aboriginal cultural competency

This role is a seasonal live in position from April through to the end of early October, working 21 days per 4 weeks and 8 days off, with a minimum of 5 days off each month in town.

Meals and safari tent accommodation are provided on site, as well as the ability to explore the national park and surrounding Kimberley. Air and Road transfers are also provided in and out of the National Park from Kununurra.

The successful applicant must be available to commence in April 2026.

We are also seeking a Guides, All Rounders (Housekeeping/ F&B), Maintenance Officer and an Assistant Manager, couple applications are welcome. We highly encourage local and Aboriginal applications.
