Job Title: Specialist Child Health Practitioner
This role is focused on delivering high-quality specialist child health services to children and their families. It involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal outcomes for children.
About the Position:
* Deliver culturally sensitive child healthcare services to children and their families.
* Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for children.
* Develop and maintain effective relationships with community groups and other organizations to promote child health and wellbeing.
* Conduct evidence-based assessments and screenings to identify high-risk children.
* Administer developmental assessments and provide feedback to parents/carers.
* Ensure immunization compliance and provide education to parents/carers on the importance of immunization.
* Support staff in child health assessments and provide guidance on best practice.
Requirements:
* Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife.
* Postgraduate qualification in Child Health or a related field.
* Expert knowledge of the WA Immunisation Schedule in relation to childhood immunisations.
* Working knowledge of Child Health and an understanding of current practices, theories, and values.
* Knowledge of child development and how it relates to Aboriginal children in Western Australia.
* Understanding of scope of practice in line with relevant state board.
* Ability to work autonomously in a multidisciplinary team with Aboriginal clients and staff.
Preferred Requirements:
* Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
* Previous experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation.
* Significant experience in community-based child health.
* Experience in mentoring and assessing.
