About the RoleThe Social Media Assistant supports the delivery of TUSA's digital presence by producing creative, consistent, and impactful content across multiple social media platforms.
This role enhances student engagement by showcasing TUSA's programs, services, and initiatives through high-quality digital storytelling.Working in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Officer, the Social Media Assistant is responsible for content creation, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
The role also supports the Student Media Team and contributes to student-facing communications and on-campus visibility.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop relatable and engaging content including graphics, photography, video, and copywriting across TUSA's social media channels.Schedule, publish, and moderate content on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn.Monitor and respond to online enquiries, comments, and messages, referring students to relevant services when required.Identify and apply emerging social media trends relevant to student audiences.Collaborate with internal teams to translate campaigns into effective digital communication.Support content for email newsletters, website updates, and digital advertising.Assist with recruitment and coordination of Student Media volunteers.Track analytics and provide insights to improve content performance and engagement.Essential CriteriaStrong understanding of student culture and social media trends.Experience creating content using Canva or similar platforms.Solid written communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to organise workload, meet deadlines, and work autonomously.Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and students from diverse backgrounds.Desirable CriteriaCurrent UTAS student or recent graduate.Experience running social media accounts (club, organisation, business, or personal brand).
Photography, videography, or editing skills.Experience in tertiary or youth-focused environments.Current Driver's Licence.
