Second Nature Conservancy Inc. is a successful non-profit, non-government organisation, established in 1998 as Goolwa to Wellington Local Action Planning Association. We are dedicated to restoring biodiversity and sustainably managing natural resources.
Our field crew carry out a number of environmental management tasks including revegetation, weed control and site maintenance. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for nature to join our team, with the potential for ongoing work.
About the role
Supported by SNC Project Officers, the Senior Revegetation Field Worker (SRFW) will lead our hands-on teams restoring native landscapes through revegetation and habitat restoration projects. This position provides supervision to teams of RFWs to ensure quality, output and safety targets are achieved.
In conjunction with Leading Hands, this role leads 10+ RFWs to undertake on ground activities including:
* Tubestock planting (including operating petrol-powered augers)
* Weed control such as knapsack spraying and drill and fill
* Assisting in plant nurseries
* Watering and brush cutting
* Assist with a variety of other tasks from time to time including reed planting, hand seeding, mulching and fencing

What we are looking for

* Motivated to help restore and reconstruct habitat for native flora and fauna conservation through hands-on field work
* Ability to use project management software and apps
* Experience in using a wide range of tools and machinery and understanding of field operations (Revegetation, Landscaping, Agriculture, Horticulture, Land Management or similar)
* Knowledge of local native plant and weed species
* Drivers licence with skills/experience operating 4x4 vehicles and trailers
* Ability to work outdoors in varied terrain and weather
* Physically fit
Qualifications such as Cert II or III in Conservation and Land Management (CLM) or similar, Pest Management Technician Licence and nursery experience would be highly regarded.
Desirable
Hold or be willing to obtain:
* HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
* AHCCHM307 Prepare and Apply Chemicals and AHCCHM304 Transport and Store Chemicals
This is a practical role and applicants with Conservation Land Management (CLM), revegetation, native vegetation management, viticulture, landscaping, gardening, agricultural and similar backgrounds would be ideally suited.
