As a key member of our communications team, you will play a critical role in crafting and delivering compelling media content that showcases our work and its value to the community.
About the Role
In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for:
* Sourcing, crafting, and delivering high-quality media content that supports our business goals.
* Responding to media queries with confidence and professionalism.
* Liaising closely with internal stakeholders and broader government to protect and build our reputation.
* Participating in an on-call roster to provide critical media support outside of regular business hours.
Key Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Fostering trust with our people, customers, and community by providing expert advice and service.
* Proactively identifying and developing newsworthy stories that promote our strategic objectives and community impact.
* Drafting and delivering high-quality media materials, including media releases, talking points, backgrounders, scripts, and social media content.
* Providing strategic media and issues management advice during business-as-usual and incident response situations.
* Capturing and coordinating the creation of visual content to enhance storytelling and coverage.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists and media outlets to ensure accurate and informed reporting.
* Contributing to a proactive media roster, including occasional after-hours work for incident or issues response.
* Supporting the delivery of media training and coaching to internal spokespeople.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Tertiary qualifications in journalism, PR, or a related field.
* Proven experience in media relations, journalism, communications, or marketing.
* Demonstrated ability to identify, shape, and pitch positive media stories that support business goals.
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
* A strong understanding of the South Australian media landscape and evolving media trends.
* A current driver's licence.
