About the role
The Research Assistant provides general research and administrative assistance which supports HTI’s research, policy development and stakeholder engagement. This will involve working closely with a number of people in the HTI teams. They would primarily be supporting one of the below programs. They may be asked to support on other projects and work from time to time as required. No staff report to this position.
We have two positions available currently.
This role involves:
• Supporting research and other project related activities of HTI.• Undertaking literature searches, data evidence collation, conducting preliminary analysis in areas relevant to HTI’s work, and drafting research memos – including in relation to policy, law and new and emerging technologies.• Assisting with research and project administrative tasks such as printing, photocopying, taking meetings minutes, and organising electronic files.• Supporting the delivery of external stakeholder engagements, such as roundtables and events.
We are looking for a candidate with the following attributes:
• High level research skills, including legal research skills• High level writing and communication skills.• Ability to work competently in both team and independent work environments• High level of competence in MS Office software suite and database management.• A basic understanding of issues related to new and emerging technologies.• Working towards tertiary qualifications in an appropriate area eg. law, public policy or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
About the programs
The AI Corporate Governance Program (AICGP) aims to broaden understanding and capability in relation to AI governance and corporate accountability.
The Future of AI Regulation (FAIR) and AI Regulatory Ecosystem (AIRE) Programs aim to strengthen the regulatory protections Australians enjoy against the harmful development and use of AI, and to enable regulators across Australia to utilise their existing powers and functions to protect Australians from harmful AI development and use.
What we offer you
Hourly Salary Rate: $52.84- $56.52 per hour (HEW 4) plus 11.5% superannuation.
These casual roles are offering up to 14 hours per week for approximately 12 months.
Hours may vary depending on operational needs.
