Medical Practice Overview
This permanent full-time position offers a unique chance to serve the local Indigenous community of Bowen, Queensland. You'll be part of a new medical practice owned by the Aboriginal Medical Service, which prioritizes preventative healthcare and the management of chronic illnesses.
Job Responsibilities
No on-call responsibilities are required for this role.
Your working hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 8:00am – 5:00pm (lunch break 12:30pm – 1:30pm), and Thursday, Friday 7:00am – 3:00pm (lunch break 12:00pm – 1:00pm).
A proficiency in Medical Director and Pracsoft 4.2 software would be beneficial.
The position involves conducting Health Checks (Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander, 4-year-old, 45-49, 75+), creating Care Plans, and performing Cervical Smears.
Cervical Smear referrals can be directed to our local hospital's Women's Clinic if necessary.
You may occasionally visit nursing homes during regular hours.
Home visits for established patients will be at the discretion of the GP.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with dedicated Indigenous health workers and allied health specialists who focus on Chronic Disease Management (CDM) and comprehensive patient care.
Essential Requirements
General registration is mandatory as there is no supervisory support available.
Experience using Medical Director and Pracsoft software would be advantageous.
Familiarity with conducting Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Checks is advantageous, especially considering Bowen's emphasis on indigenous community health.
Experience in Chronic Disease Management (CDM) and collaborating with health workers is beneficial and encouraged.
