To undertake the role, the incumbent will develop and maintain a depth of knowledge of relevant supplier markets, capabilities and technology and is responsible for negotiating and facilitating implementation of long-term agreements and/or partnerships between suppliers and customers. The Category Specialist will also ensure that category strategies and associated procurement activities are compliant with agreed processes and broader Queensland Health governance requirements.
Reporting/work relationships The Category Specialist, reports to the Category Director. The number of direct reports this position is responsible for is to be advised.
Mandatory qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Whilst not mandatory, a relevant qualification in procurement and/or project management would be well regarded. Experience in procurement relevant to a health care setting will be well regarded. There will be a requirement to travel to Hospital and Health Services across Queensland. It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16): measles, mumps, rubella (MMR),varicella (chicken pox),pertussis (whooping cough),hepatitis B, tuberculosis.
