Summary: This is an ongoing recruitment to attract part-time faculty across disciplines. Applications are kept on file to fill needs as they arise. We may expand course offerings to partner campuses.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality instruction in accordance with the approved course outline of record.
- Participate in general faculty functions related to the educational program and faculty development, including assessment of student learning outcomes (SLOs).
- Deliver assignments that may include day, evening, fully online, hybrid, and/or weekend courses.
- Part-time, temporary, hourly assignments are on an as-needed basis. Course outlines of record, student learning outcomes to be assessed, and department policies will be provided or reviewed.
In addition: The Informational Technology Instructor teaches in the area of Information Technology, Computer Science and related courses. May include instruction leading to IT certifications. Courses may cover cyber security and computer applications. The position requires ability to work in traditional and non-traditional settings (flexible scheduling formats, online instruction, compressed video, etc.). Courses cover hardware and software skills for IT professionals, with some focus on networks and industrial computing. The faculty member provides academic counseling and actively recruits students into Information Technology programs. Supervisory and management responsibilities: Students.
Qualifications

Educational/Qualifications:
The successful candidate for Computer Science must meet one of the following criteria:
- Master’s degree or higher in the content area from an accredited college or university; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in the content area from an accredited college or university AND a Master’s degree in a related field; OR
- A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2 above. (Applicants applying on the basis of equivalency must complete all Equivalency questions on their application in addition to all other required materials)
The successful candidate for IT, Cyber Security and Computer Applications must meet one of the following criteria:
- AAS degree in related field required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to work in a team with shared responsibilities and agreed upon objectives
- Competent with modern technology for education and office applications
- Ability to communicate high expectations for learning and attain high-level student performance
- Skills necessary to work with a broad spectrum of student abilities
- Interest and ability to incorporate educational technology
- Ability to work collaboratively with partner faculty, community stakeholders and staff
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Part-time, temporary, hourly assignments are on an as-needed basis
- Classroom, Office and Lab settings
- Some evenings and weekends as scheduled
Experience
- Experience working in Information Technology field, required
- Experience using technology as an instructional tool, preferred
- Experience coordinating lab activities and purchasing lab supplies, preferred

Job Duties
These are the job duties for the position:
Instruct classes as assigned. Participate in general faculty functions related to the educational program and faculty development activities. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses or online. Use of Canvas as the Learning Management System (LMS) is required for all courses. Applicants must have a laptop with reliable WIFI. Faculty must adhere to NWCCD’s Canvas Course requirements with regular, effective contact with students.
