Overview
ADELAIDE UNIVERSITY is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Environmental science / Geosciences. Location: Waite Campus, College of Science. Type: Full-time, fixed term until 30 June 2030. Salary: Level A, $81,293 - $109,307 per annum plus 17% superannuation. This role is based in Adelaide and involves contributing to the Weed Management Initiative and genetic research related to herbicide resistance in weeds and crops.

Responsibilities
* Drive cutting-edge genetic research to strengthen the University's reputation for innovation and deliver real-world solutions to herbicide resistance.
* Play a key role in advancing genetic research in weeds and plants, applying molecular techniques and genetic approaches to understand weed populations under farming systems, including herbicide resistance and changes in emergence patterns.
* Collaborate within the Weed Management Initiative and with national and international partners; work across laboratory work, data analysis, and engagement activities.
* Contribute to publishing research in peer-reviewed journals and to the team's objective of reducing the impact of herbicide-resistant weeds on Australian grain producers.
Qualifications
* Ph.D. in Weed Science, Plant Genetics or related discipline.
* Knowledge and experience in molecular genetics techniques on plants.
* Demonstrated ability to publish research in peer-reviewed journals.
* Ability to use statistical methods to analyse genetic data.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Excellent personal and interpersonal skills and the capacity to work effectively with others.
About the Role and Team
The role reports to Professor Christopher Preston within the School of Agriculture, Food & Wine, contributing to the Weed Management Initiative — a national collaboration reducing the impact of herbicide-resistant weeds and strengthening the University's leadership in agricultural innovation for the wider farming community.
