The Operations Manager is critical to TIA's success, providing leadership to the state-wide technical team and ensuring the efficient, safe, and professional delivery of research and teaching infrastructure and programs.
The role manages TIA's extensive field sites, laboratories, equipment, and static infrastructure, and leads risk management to ensure compliance with University, Tasmanian, and Australian regulations.
This position requires a proactive, solutions-focused leader with strong stakeholder engagement skills, operational planning experience, and the ability to manage budgets and competing priorities.
The Operations Manager fosters a culture of safety, service excellence, and continuous improvement in support of TIA's strategic goals.
What you'll do: Lead and manage TIA's technical team, ensuring safe, efficient, effective and high-quality delivery of teaching, research and field programs across the state.
Promote and maintain a strong Work Health and Safety (WHS) culture.
Manage expenditure and cost recovery across assigned budgets.
Provide the TIA Executive Team with high-level technical advice and input into strategic planning and progress reporting.
Collaborate with relevant marketing and communications teams to support the delivery of community engagement activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
What we're looking for: Demonstrated knowledge of research, teaching and operational.
Ability to manage teams with strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated high level organisational and decision-making skills.
Experience in the development and implementation of safety and risk management and mitigation procedures.
Broad understanding of building design, scientific research equipment and agricultural machinery.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $152,033 comprising base salary within the range of $114,282 to $129,943 plus 17% superannuation.
