Job Description
Seeking a Science Laboratory Technician to join our Plenty Campus in Doreen, with additional support to the University Campus in Macleod. This full‐time, ongoing, term‐time role supports the delivery of innovative science programmes through engaging practical learning experiences and operates across 39 weeks of the school year with an annualised salary arrangement.
Responsibilities
* Carry out and support all laboratory activities effectively.
* Ensure care for specimens in line with ethical and regulatory requirements.
* Prepare apparatus and chemicals for practical classes and demonstrations.
* Monitor stock, order materials and manage requisitions.
* Maintain laboratories and preparation areas to a high standard of safety and cleanliness.
* Ensure compliance with Hazardous Substance Risk Assessments and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Qualifications & Skills
* Experience working as a laboratory technician (school setting highly regarded).
* Diploma of Applied Science, Certificate IV Laboratory Technician or equivalent.
* Chemical Safety qualification desirable.
* Experience with PASCO Data Logging highly regarded.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
