About Centrecare

Centrecare is a not-for-profit organisation with just over 300 employees and is committed to delivering quality professional counselling, support, accommodation, mediation and training services in over 11 locations across the Perth metropolitan, Goldfields and South West regions.

The Role

The Families First service will provide culturally appropriate, child‐centred early intervention, which will increase protective factors and bring about attitudinal and behavioural change in children, young people and their families.

The families first Case Worker will provide accessible, responsive, high quality, integrated case work, education and community services to support families, children and young people who are showing early signs of, or at risk of developing mental illness to improve their wellbeing and enable better participation within their communities.

A Few Specifics

  • Provide integrated case work, education and community services to support families, children and young people.
  • Arrange referrals to agencies and services for clients to access appropriate specialist services and support groups.
  • Assist families to enhance their skills and capacity to care for their children through providing information on parenting and health programmes.
  • Assist families to identify and strengthen kinship networks, cultural connections, and family relationships.
  • Provide individual and group support facilitation that is culturally sensitive to the needs and learning styles of families and children.
  • Work within the Goldfields region on outreach, doing home‐visits, working in schools, Aboriginal community centres, and any other venue where the service can be more accessible to vulnerable families and children in their communities.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor's in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Counselling and/or related disciplines.
  • 3–5 years post‐graduate experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in extensive screening, assessment and case planning for children, young people and families, especially with Aboriginal families.
  • Demonstrated experience providing strength‐based, culturally secure services to children, young people and families.
  • Experience living and working in a remote/regional community.
  • Exhibit a client‐centred, conscientious care approach.
  • Ability to stay a maximum of four nights in the outreach community.
  • WA Driver's licence.
  • National Police Certificate (valid within 12 months).
  • Working With Children Check or eligibility to obtain.
