The CEFC is a specialist investor in Australia's transition to net zero emissions by 2050. With access to more than $30 billion from the Australian Government, we work with co-investors, industry and government to drive economy-wide investment in decarbonisation. We invest in renewable energy, energy efficiency and low emissions technologies via the CEFC General Portfolio, the Rewiring the Nation Fund and four Specialised Investment Funds: the Household Energy Upgrades Fund, the Powering Australia Technology Fund, the Advancing Hydrogen Fund and the Clean Energy Innovation Fund. In adopting a national approach to the emissions challenge, we invest with commercial rigour, aiming to deliver a positive return across our portfolio.

About the opportunity

We currently have
three positions
available within our Origination and Transactions function at the CEFC. This is an exciting opportunity to join a financier at the forefront of clean energy investing across Australia.

The role works on a wide range of CEFC's proposed projects and across the investment portfolio, playing an integral role contributing to the CEFC's multi-faceted and challenging work across sectors (renewable energy, storage, resources, property, waste, agriculture, infrastructure, debt markets and clean tech) and across the spectrum of potential investment products (corporate and project debt, funds, equity and hybrid).

The position will contribute to initial screening and approval processes for prospective investments and will include preparing investment proposals including credit assessments, writing investment papers, preparing and managing internal processes, client engagement and reporting on origination and investment pipelines.

One of these positions
will have a focus on
data and analytics
in addition to supporting transaction screening and execution processes and will operate within our Debt Markets team. Candidates with an interest in data and developing expertise with PowerBI are encouraged to apply for this position.

This opportunity is suited to someone genuinely passionate about developing their transaction origination, analysis and execution skills, whilst growing their commercial skills and experience.

About you

Supported by relevant tertiary qualifications in either finance, commerce, actuarial studies or a related quantitative discipline, you will bring:

- Minimum 2 years' experience in the finance industry working across multiple asset classes
- Proven quantitative, analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent Excel modelling skills – technical knowledge of functions, experience building and reviewing models, experience running sensitivity analysis and knowledge of good model design principles
- Good commercial acumen and insight
- Good working knowledge of accounting and financing concepts (including debt and equity)
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Organised and effective in high pressure situations, with demonstrated ability work to tight deadlines
- A solid interest in decarbonisation, clean energy technology, and innovative finance solutions
- Actuarial qualifications and/or experience with PowerBI to build data models and visualisation highly desirable for the Data & Analytics role in our Debt Markets team.
