Pre-Contract Commercial Lead
Wood is seeking a Pre-Contract Commercial Lead to support our Operations business across Australia and Asia Pacific West. This role can be based in one of our key Australian offices in Perth, Melbourne, or Brisbane.
Wood's Operations APAC West business delivers brownfields and maintenance engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation, and technical services to the Oil & Gas sector and enjoys long‐term partnerships with the region's most prominent producers located in Western Australia, Northern Territory and South‐East Asia.
Responsibilities
* Prepare tenders and commercial proposals in accordance with client contracts, Wood policies and procedures including tender governance.
* Support the post‐contract team in the mobilisation and transition of the contract ensuring all commercial and contractual agreements are met.
* Engage directly with the Wood Proposals team to identify clarifications and draft responses to issue to clients.
* Take responsibility when delegated to lead the pre‐contract commercial team.
* Promote safe working practices within the commercial function.
* Work closely with the proposals team to perform pre‐award activities including commercial review of tender documents, preparing commercial proposals, commercial qualifications and pricing notes, coordinating commercial and legal qualifications, supporting the tender governance process at tender preparation, submission and completion stages, and leading commercial negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
* Provide support and mentoring to the commercial pre‐contract team.
* Analyse and model corporate cost and overhead elements.

Qualifications
* Must be an Australian citizen or eligible to hold permanent residency to work lawfully in Australia.
* Five or more years' experience in a commercial role managing on the contractor side within oil & gas, mining, or infrastructure sectors.
* Undergraduate degree in business administration, commerce, quantity surveying, construction management or a comparable discipline.
* Proficient Excel user, able to design and improve commercial tools.
* Knowledge of key contracting concepts, principles and commercial risk management.
* Experience with the tendering life cycle and leading commercial proposals and estimates.
* Knowledge of labour pricing for both professional white‐collar and trade employee agreements.
* Proven experience drafting and interpreting contractual documentation.
* Exceptional pricing and modelling capabilities, confident in working with existing models and designing fit‐for‐purpose models for bespoke tenders.
* Understanding of different pricing models and remuneration models.
* Strong presenter and negotiator for internal stakeholders and external clients.
