Hume Central Secondary College, located in the City of Hume, serves the Broadmeadows area with a total student enrolment of approximately **** students and growing. The College has three state-of-the-art campuses: two Year 7-9 campuses located at Blair Street and Dimboola Road and a Year ***** campus on the south-west corner of Broadmeadows Town Park. The Blair Street campus also includes the Hume Central English Language Centre, a Year 7-10 facility catering to the language learning needs of newly arrived students to Australia. Selection Criteria
Suitable qualifications and/or experience in psychology, youth work or a wellbeing field; experience working with refugees is an advantage.
Understanding of common approaches, policies, programs and research relating to student wellbeing in a senior year school setting.
Experience in delivering student and family wellbeing services in a relevant setting and, preferably, with students, teachers, families and external agencies.
Demonstrated experience in coordinating services and providing information, support and consultation.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and network with a wide range of people within education and the wider community.
Demonstrated ability to design, deliver or coordinate professional development in the area of student, family or youth wellbeing.
Role
Range 3 positions carry management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role involves coordination and management of staff, ensuring compliance with standard procedures and school policy, and reporting to senior management. It focuses on student and family wellbeing, working closely with student welfare coordinators, school leadership, external agencies and community partners to plan, implement and review wellbeing initiatives.
Responsibilities
Work closely with a Student Welfare Co-ordinator and Team Leaders to promote effective student wellbeing practices.
Provide advice and support to the whole College community in developing and implementing wellbeing programs.
Provide high-level individual and family counselling in conjunction with team members.
Collaborate with Student Support Services, staff and support agencies to develop and implement resilience, attendance and social-emotional programs.
Establish and maintain links with external support agencies to optimise service provision for students at risk of disengagement.
