Senior Agronomist
A family owned, broad scale farming operation is looking to fill the role of full-time Senior Agronomist on farms located near Rowena, 90 kms west of Moree, NSW and other locations as required.

Position Roles:
· Complete Broadacre crop inspections, monitoring stages of growth, detect diseases, and identify weeds.
· Monitor weather conditions to ensure effective spraying outcomes and minimise risk to sensitive crops.
· Report spraying recommendations, and manage agrochemicals, including stocktake, ordering, and safe handling & storage procedures.
· Collect and analyse grain samples assessing crop quality.
· Monitor crop growth stages to identify optimal timing for harvesting and baling.
· Maintain detailed records of crop inputs for traceability and analysis, research, testing and results.
· Calibrate spray rigs (rates, droplet size, pressure) to achieve effective weed and pest control.
· Research and introduce updates on new agrochemicals and spraying technology to reduce input costs.
· Advise farm managers on crop disease, control of pests and weeds, soil improvement.
· Assist with crop management planning, particularly around weed control and spray programs.
· Develop nutrient, irrigation and pest management plans.
· Perform quality control for seed calibre and soil standards.
· Assist with chemical stocktake
· Liaise and purchase chemicals from suppliers
· Assist with setup and oversee the spray rig and machinery operations
· Usage of AgWorld for all farm operations
Skills and experience:
· Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in Agriculture, Agricultural Sciences, Rural Science, Agronomy or similar is essential.
· At least 3 years previous Broadacre Agronomist experience.
· Have an in-depth knowledge of soil and crop principles.
· Demonstrated ability to use precision agriculture tools, GPS and remote sensing technology.
· Have outstanding research and analytical skills.
· Hold appropriate Chemical Certification(s).
· Demonstrated ability to work with large data sets.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Ability to design and implement experiments to test new crop varieties, fertilizers and pest control methods.
