About the Role
Queen’s College is seeking a skilled and motivated Web Developer to design, develop, and continuously improve our web-based platforms, with a primary focus on our Drupal-based intranet and associated mobile applications. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building reliable, secure, and user-centred digital solutions that genuinely improve how people work and connect in a community-focused environment.
Reporting to the Director of Technology, you will take ownership of the College’s intranet and related web platforms, working closely with staff and students to translate business needs into robust technical solutions. You’ll play a key role in enhancing communication, streamlining processes, and supporting data-driven decision making across the College.
This is a 12-month, full time contract role with the potential to be ongoing. We are open to considering a part time role for the right person.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the full-stack development, configuration, and maintenance of the College’s Drupal-based intranet
* Develop, maintain, and enhance React-based mobile intranet applications (iOS and Android)
* Provide technical maintenance and support for the College’s external website
* Design and execute system testing across development, staging, and production environments
* Manage web platform databases and develop SQL-based integrations, reports, and dashboards
* Identify and implement opportunities to automate and streamline business processes
* Take ownership of the AWS hosting environment
* Proactively manage platform security, patching, and access controls
* Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and define technical solutions
About You
You are a capable and collaborative developer who enjoys balancing technical excellence with real-world user needs. You’re comfortable working across the full application lifecycle and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You have:
* Strong experience with PHP and modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS3/SASS/LESS, JavaScript, jQuery)
* Strong proficiency in Drupal development, including custom modules, theming, and security updates
* Experience working with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL)
* Experience integrating web applications with internal and external systems
* Solid experience managing AWS environments (including EC2 and web servers)
* Experience with Linux-based server environments (Apache/Nginx)
* Experience developing or maintaining React-based applications, or a strong willingness to learn
It would be a bonus if you:
* Are familiar with WordPress
* Have experience developing reporting dashboards or data-driven web applications
