About the role
Delivery of quality information and services is integral in providing support across the cancer continuum, through prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and end of life, supporting Queenslanders to navigate through the cancer journey.
As part of our Counselling Services Team, the Mental Health Social Worker will provide health and psychosocial interventions to people who have been impacted by cancer. You will deliver a range of client-centred and evidence-based brief interventions to people impacted by cancer, including telephone, video and face to face counselling and facilitate or co-facilitate face to face and/ or online group sessions, utilising various interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and behavioral interventions.
This role is a Permanent Full-time OR part-time position(22.5 to 37.5 hours per week).
About you
To be successful in this roleyou will bring:
* Bachelor of Social Work (minimum requirement).
* Current registration with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or with Australian Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* Accreditation as a Mental Health Social Worker with AASW
* Demonstrated skills and experience in delivering focused psychological strategies, particularly in a mental health or community setting
* Demonstrated experience in trauma informed care, distress screening, risk assessment and safety planning.
* Understanding and expertise in the delivery of psychosocial support interventions and how they might be applied to people impacted by cancer
* Understanding of social determinants of health outcomes and experience working with populations such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTQI+, persons with disability and people in rural or remote areas will be highly regarded
