The School

Situated 50 km south of Perth, Warnbro Community High School (WCHS) is located in the beach-side communities of Warnbro and Port Kennedy. WCHS provides a nurturing learning environment that takes a holistic approach to the growth and development of our students. The WCHS community works together to develop students with strong aspirations and a self-belief in achieving success now and in the future. We are focused on improving student outcomes through meeting students at their point of need.

Our school motto is 'I am because we are' as it epitomises the concept that the individual cannot exist without the community they live in - each individual is interdependent on the other. Our school fosters a cooperative and supportive environment for both students and staff. We work with parents to encourage students to develop a sense of awareness about their own responsibilities as members of the school and the broader community.

Find out more about our school by visiting or Schools Online .

The Role

WCHS is seeking a skilled Literacy and Numeracy Intervention Classes (LINCS) Specialist Teacher to deliver targeted Literacy and Numeracy intervention for Years 7 and 8 as part of a collaborative team. The LINCS program provides targeted support through small-group Direct Instruction sessions facilitated by skilled Education Assistants and highly structured, highly predictable Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) classes run by teachers.

We are looking for a teacher who ideally meets students at their point of need without lowering expectations, ensuring access to the same curriculum content as their peers. You should use clear and explicit modelling, structured practice and responsive feedback to build mastery, confidence and independence.

A primary teaching, integrated and/or multidisciplinary background is highly regarded, as is the ability to work across Maths, English, Science and Humanities and Social Science (MESH) learning areas. Experience with Direct Instruction programs is desirable but not essential; fidelity to the Whole School Instructional Framework and consistent classroom routines is highly regarded. Graduates interested in this area are encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant should display:

Strong EDI practice aligned with whole-school instructional expectations, or a willingness to upskill in this area.
High expectations for student achievement, behaviour and effort.
Skill in analysing student data to plan and adjust instruction.
Capacity to create calm, predictable, well-organised learning environments.
The ability to build rapport with adolescents needing additional support while holding firm academic expectations.
A knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and the Science of Learning.

At WCHS, we value collaboration, feedback, resilience and positive relationships with students, families and the wider community. We are committed to delivering structured, evidence-informed teaching that accelerates progress for every learner.
